In Lithuania Deer farmers association was founded 9th of November 1998 with aim to unify a small group of deer farming enthusiasts and to advertise by that time new activity - deer farming in fenced areas.


Interest in deer breeding slowly grew up and by the year 2004 we organized first deer farmers conference with help of Directorate General of State Forests and Vilnius University game management base. 60 participants two days discussed various deer farming questions.


By now association unifies 29 members, which actively participate in various trainings, seminars and excursions to deer farms in Lithuania and abroad as well.


In begining of 2010, there was about 150 fenced areas in Lithuania, with more then 4000 diferent deers. Most popular is fallow deer and red deer, but there are farmers whoo keep roe deers, Pere David deers, sika deers and caribou.


Members of our association can become not only deer farmers but everyone interested in breeding wild animals in fenced areas.
